Federation of Gujarat Weaver Welfare Association is formed in 2000 our registration number is F/2396/Surat year 2000. It was formed for the welfare of weaving industry and weavers. Surat has about 6.5 lakh shuttle looms, weaving machines and about 1.2 lakh high speed weaving machines like waterjet weaving machines, rapier weaving machines and air jet weaving machines.
Our society has played an important role in creating various textile policies. As many as 24 small organizations are functioning under your association as per other separate area.
A total of 6 lakh workers are employed in the textile industry. We address the textile industry workers as “Kargar” i.e. Artisans. Most of the artisans are from the state of Odisha. About 2 lakh artisans are women.
During the covid period our society has worked tirelessly for the survival of all artisans. We distributed more than 25000 grain kits to artisans which will serve more than 100000 artisans. Appreciation certificate from Surat District Collector and Surat Municipal Commissioner was received by our society.
We also opened a free vaccination center for artisans with the help of Surat Municipal Corporation. This vaccination center was functioning for 2 years.
We also coordinated with the local administration for smooth migration of workers during Covid and bringing back workers from their hometowns.

In the near future our society has set a target of providing e-Shram Card to more than 100 thousand artisans and also covered them under workers compensation insurance scheme.
Our President Shri Ashokbhai has worked tirelessly for the benefit of cumin trade and industry, during his tenure he started local exhibitions.
This year the exhibitors are textile goods manufacturers and most of them are weavers who produce finished textile goods. The exhibition will help women workers and artisans in the industry.
